Hey there H&M

Oh H&M how you excite me with your Fall 2010 campaign. Not only do the clothes look tantalizingly fresh for fall they are also in my price range. Double bonus. And to top it all off Daria Werbowy, the Canadian supermodel extraordinaire, happens to be the face of this Fall campaign.

Speaking of Fall, personally I cannot wait for the stores to fill with winter jackets, colourful sweaters, and the most drool worth boots, (I'm a sucker for shoes, as some of you may know). Fall is definitely my favorite season just for the all of the gorgeous clothes, and maybe because it has always meant a back to school clothing spree. I am currently counting my pennies as I don't want to run out of money before this year of school at Blanche Macdonald is over, but I am making a few exceptions for some rain boots and a nice rain proof winter jacket. Notice the theme here: rain proof. I am ready and waiting for the rainy season in Vancouver, because I've heard its even worse then Victoria urgghhh..

Well Vancouver, bring on the rain! I'm ready for you! And to you Blanche Macdonald, starting Monday bring on the homework! I think I'm ready for you!

VANCOUVER! VANCOUVER! VANCOUVER!

I'm baaaaack! Yes, I haven't done a single blog write-up in a prolonged time but I thought it would be suitable to leave one until I moved to the fashion capital of the Canadian west coast. After countless days of well, counting down, I have officially moved to Vancouver! Yay! And after the long days of trips to Ikea, Walmart and the handy little store down the street I am now moved in! Despite the fact that my room is still not up to par, and I JUST got the use of my internet I am quite content in my little basement suite off of Main Street. Speaking of Main Street, I happened to venture down it today and extensively enjoyed what I found. Boutiques upon boutiques of trendy clothes at affordable prices, which was a surprise to me as Victoria's boutiques are far from cheap. I fell in love with my new neighborhood so much that I had to write about it here, and let all of you know about this amazing shopping destination. First Hilary, Jaimie and I hit up The Lip Lounge which had some very different but refreshing clothes, such as a long sweater with a bejeweled rabbit printed on it. I know, sounds a bit different but it really was very cool. I found out that the owner actual owns another boutique directly across the street called Motherland, I have yet to hit it up but I'm sure it is just as chic. Then we walked on down to Front & Company which was easily one of the best second hand stores I have ever been to. Clearly they hand pick their selection of clothes they bring in because I have never seen so many amazing labels in a consignment store before. I happily picked up an extremely comfy Wilfred shirt, that was easily a quarter of its original price. And yes, I will be applying there tomorrow. As our day continued and our stomachs started grumbling we found a quaint little diner where we stopped for lunch and to our surprise we had out own little juke box at our table. We ate our french fries to the tunes of The Beach Boys and The Archie's and I felt like I was in at The Frosty Palace in Grease. It was pretty cool! Although we only made it down the left hand side of the street today but I will be sure to venture onto the right side soon! Until then, I will enjoy my comfy new bed fully tonight as it has been a long day of walking. It might take a while to get used to walking to everywhere again *sigh* the joys of student living...

Me in my new, somewhat set up, bedroom!

Give it up for the Guys

Who can resist a guy with amazing style? I know I can't. For all you guys who are still wearing shirts with silly little sayings and your clothes are so old you can't remember how long you've had them for, maybe you should examine these fine specimens above, and take some valuable style tips from them. Maybe even invest in a vespa like the guy just above and score some bonus points. Or better yet, move to Milano, Paris, or New York, and take me with you.

If You Have To Cry Go Outside

Now I know Kelly Cutrone's book If You Have to Cry Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You, has been out for a good couple months now, but due to my painfully boring schedule and my current health situation (mono..boo!) I have finally been able to finish it! And it is SO GOOD. This wonderful book is my new life bible. Easily some of the best advice ever if you want to get into the fashion industry, as I do! And throughout the book, Kelly Cutrone takes you along on her many crazy life experiences, from moving to New York on a whim at age 21, to becoming a cracked out tarot card reader on Venice Beach. She even had a record deal at one time! Who would have thought! In the end she gives amazing powerful advice about being yourself and making a name for yourself in any industry. A definite must read for any aspiring fashionista!

Greased Lightening

Go greased lightening your burning up the quarter mile...
Today I did a photo shoot with my two lovely subjects, my sister, Brittany and my friend Craig. Both were great models and didn't flinch when I asked them to move to so many different places and poses. A "Sandy and Danny" from Grease themed photo shoot later, and you get these...

Fly away with me

So today I attended my good friends grad, and like all days I wondered what to wear. In a panic of putting together a last minute outfit and going out and buying new heels, because I just didn't like any of the 14 pairs I already have and barely wear, which really is a crime. Anyways, in the midst of finding an outfit I managed to rip apart an old dress and throw on some glitz and there I was, ready to go. Actually for an outfit put together so hurriedly, I'd say it wasn't half bad.
Although the quickie photo shoot before getting picked up, clearly was.

On me: Black cardi from The Gap, dressed turned skirt from Forever 21, heels from Costa Blanca, unknown top, tights and necklaces.

Smokin in Leather

Now, as much as I am opposed to real leather, fake leather is very much in my "love and need" category on my shopping list right now. I am drooling over leather skirts and shorts in particular. And why not compare these selections with a visual from two of my favorite stars of "The City", who happen to loath each other. Sounds like a wonderful battle to me.
First, we have Olivia Palermo, the bitch who just can't take it, in her gorgeous black leather knee length skirt. It definitely adds some spice to her feminine blouse and contrasts nicely with her fur vest. And just a few words on the shoes: love it. Over all her outfit is very trendy and put together, like always.

Then comes miss Whitney Port, the good girl of NYC, wearing some not so good girl black leather shorts. Love love love. Just the fact that they are high waisted makes me love them even more. And those leopard print booties and baby blue cropped shirt just complete the outfit for me.

So as the battle continues to heat up between the two on screen, I think I'm going to have to name a winner in this blog outfit battle. And with bonus points for amazing shoes, the winner is...Whitney Port and her stylish leather shorts! Tune in next time for some more battles of the rich and stylish.

In a field of flowers and grass..

A picture is worth a thousand words, and I'd like to think mine tell novels. Recently within the past 5 months I've taken up photography and been putting my Nikon D5000 to good use.
In this most recent photo shoot, which was an amazing 15 minutes long, we have Brittany Leadbetter modeling a creation by Olive Couture by Olivia Hayward who's blog can be seen here. Hair and makeup was a combined effort by myself and Olivia and all in all I think the pictures turned out pretty good. Take a look...

On a sunny day in May

So I haven't done any outfit postings yet, so I thought I'd kick off with a bang. I wore this outfit on Mothers Day to a very lovely brunch at The Gatsby Mansion, which is one of my favorite places in Victoria. It's an 19th century house turned restaurant and hotel and it is absolutely gorgeous! Anyways, I will be sure to keep posting some more outfits and this time with a proper mini-photo shoot!

I love Agyness Deyn

First of all, do you know anyone who can pull of such a haircut? Not mentioning her bold choices in hair colours. I wish I could pull that off and make thousands a day with it. But miss Aggy is definitely one of my favorite models. Drop dead gorgeous, and has an amazing grungy style day-to-day. If I splattered my jean shirt with paint and wore it around town, I don't think I would get the same reaction as her. She has definitely made her place in the modeling world, currently ranking 12th on models.com 50 Top Models scale, and she is only going up. I look forward to seeing her face on the covers of Vogue for years to come.
